Noonday: A Gift Guide for Every Style

Katie Beard Noonday.JPG

Last year, a good friend of ours introduced us to the ethical fashion brand, Noonday and we really fell in love with their mission. This Fall, we have the pleasure of having Katie Beard, Noonday Ambassador and style queen, on the blog to provide you with a personally curated Gift Guide for the women closest in your life. This is such a fun post, and will hopefully inspire and spark some ideas for purchasing with purpose this holiday season. There is truly something for everyone here!

If you love what you see, we’ve included links throughout the post that will take you to our online trunk show which is currently live! You can purchase and have your pieces in time for the holidays! Katie and I would also love to have you join us LIVE on Instagram (@elleanorandindigo and @katiebeard) on November 15 at 8:30 p.m. EST. We’ll be doing a Q & A on Noonday and talking about styling — would love for you to tune in and tell us which of the four personas below matches your style, and to ask any questions you might have!

Hope you LOVE this guide and learning about Noonday’s impact!

Gift giving hasn’t always come easy to me (and let’s be honest, it’s still difficult depending on the recipient) but I find myself searching for practicality, thoughtfulness, and beauty in each gift I give, leading me to ethical brands like Noonday Collection to check many of the women I know and love off my Christmas list.

Noonday Collection is an ethical/fair trade fashion company partnering with 4,500 Artisans in 13 countries, creating a marketplace for artisan-made goods in America to create and sustain jobs in vulnerable communities around the world.

I have been an Ambassador with Noonday Collection for 4 years, and have had the opportunity to travel to Rwanda, Guatemala, Uganda, and Peru to meet the Artisans, visit their workshops, and learn their stories. Noonday isn’t just a pretty piece or gift, it tells a story of the person who made it. Persons like Jalia who described dreaming for the first time 3 years ago after realizing Noonday wasn’t going away. Ana, who shared she wanted to be able to hire any person who wanted a job in her small town in Guatemala. And Mercedes, whose workshop now houses a kitchen that provides a hot meal to employees 5 days a week — all because of Noonday’s orders.

When you receive your piece from Noonday Collection, a tag will tell the story of the piece you hold. When you gift Noonday, you can feel confident you are gifting a piece with impact as you give more this holiday season.

But there are so many things, which ones do I choose? I’ve created four personas below that detail four women in my life… and maybe they will help you in choosing the person piece for your friend, sister, mom, co-worker, neighbor, children’s teacher, or even yourself (hey, you deserve it!).

First up, your trendy sister. She always has the best style, knows the pantone of the season, and lets you borrow her clothes when you need a great dress for your event coming up. But, what do you get for her that will turn heads and speak to her trend seeking heart? A hand-embroidered, one of a kind clutch, and two pairs of statement earrings of course! But don’t stop there! She needs a sassy elephant for her tree or desk to bring good luck and smiles when she has a case of the Mondays.

Next up, we have the busy mama! What do you get a mom who doesn’t have time to fuss but needs some “me time” every once in a while? First, a prayer for coffee. Second, a good book for nap time relaxation. And third, a simple necklace for every day + a pair of earrings that go. with. everything. The book Imperfect Courage was written by Jessica Honegger, the founder of Noonday Collection and it empowers the reader to “live a life of purpose of leaving comfort and going scared.” We all have a different story of courage and I know the busy mama in your life will appreciate the words Jessica has written.

Next, the travel gal. She’s always planning her next trip, sharing photos from her last one, and scheming how to spend 10 days in Europe with only a carry-on. Look no further, these accessories are must haves! The marigold hoops pair well with all colors, the golden arrows necklace is a perfect neutral, while the freedom bracelet can be solo or stacked to remind her of her own freedom as she honors the freedom of the woman who made it (read more here). Plus, the Monterrey cross body bag is perfect for busy markets as it zips up and fits it all as you run from train to plane to Airbnb.

Last, the laidback lady who prefers simple pieces (insert neutral staples from Vietnam, Kenya, and Ethiopia) or no jewelry at all (hello handmade makeup bag from Guatemala and hand-blown glass bowl from India!). You favorite laidback lady will have all she needs as she goes about her week sharing about her new favorite world-changing items from Noonday Collection.

But what about you? Well, maybe you need some statement earrings or maybe you’re more of a classic gal, whatever you choose, know that by choosing Noonday Collection you are providing work that transforms communities.
